I have now completed one year as President of this W.I. The year has been both interesting and challenging, with some of our number having been unwell and having time in hospital. We wish them well. Also we have a revised committee for the year, and an informative web site.

Being a successful President is only possible if you have a good committee, and I am lucky to have a brilliant one. Every one of them works equally hard to provide the members with meetings they want to come to.

I have a hard working and tolerant Secretary, an excellent Programme Secretary, and a reliable and accurate Treasurer, all essential to the smooth running of an Institute.  I am sorry that two members have decided to have a break from the committee for the next year after many years of service to our Institute. All the committee will confirm that our committee meetings are not without fun.

I think I can say we have had a good range of very interesting speakers and subjects, competitions, meals etc. and look forward to another packed programme. Some members have joined in with trips organised by Cambridge Federation and visited other Institutes.

Above all, a good Institute cannot operate without the support of its members. I know I only have to ask, and frequently don’t have to ask, for help with the evenings, and I will get it.

I look forward to another good year, and maybe we will see some new faces, who will receive a warm welcome. Thank you.
